The first Verified Social Enterprise labels were awarded to 16 Austrian social enterprises, including TWIGA Sun Fruits GmbH, as part of the Impact Days Vienna on June 1, 2023 in the Vienna Hofburg. Since Kerstin and Daniel were still in Uganda at the beginning of June, the label was received by our impact manager Robert Moosbrugger in Vienna.
With the VSE label, Austrian companies with a social impact orientation can officially identify themselves as social enterprises. The VSE label is therefore an important signal for building trust for social enterprises in Austria. Until now, every company could claim to be a social enterprise. Now there is an external body that checks whether the necessary criteria are actually fulfilled. The VSE label was initiated by SENA as a representative of the interests of Austrian social entrepreneurs. The label is awarded by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Economics in cooperation with the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ).
