The time has come. On November 21, we set off early in the morning with a large team from All in Trade. We traveled from Kampala to Kangulumira to ceremoniously lay the foundation for our solar-powered factory along with our partner cooperative and the mayor of Kangulumira.
Upon our arrival, cooking is already started in large pots under the open sky. There will be a typical Ugandan meal consisting of a meat stew, matoke (plantain), rice and vegetables. We have organized ingredients for 200 people in advance. There is a lot to do.
When we arrive at the site, there is already a lot of hustle and bustle activity. No farmer wants to miss the ceremony. Many are already sitting in the shade of the pavilions that have been erected. The women have put on their beautiful colorful dresses for the occasion.
The ceremony is an impressive experience. Many speeches are made, there is singing, praying and applauding with so much joy and gratitude. We feel the enormous motivation and hope that together we can improve life in the village community through this project. Finally, after his speech, the mayor breaks ground and assures us of his full support in the implementation of our project.
After the ceremony, the farmers take us to some houses in the village. The children are very excited that a Muzungu (white person) is visiting their home. It's these memorable moments that motivate us to continue on our path with all our strength.
